By the time Case got to college as a freshman, he weighed 370 pounds, and he knew he needed a change. Two years later, he has lost 160 pounds, he feels light on his feet and better than any time since he started putting on weight at age 8.
How did he do it?
1. He placed himself in an environment where exercise and healthy eating was practical and accessible… he changed to a bigger school with more diverse opportunities and facilities.
2. He started in on a healthy eating plan, focusing on whole, clean foods.
3. He got serious about exercise and physical activity, so much so that he can now run four miles and feel good about it.
In a profile on MSNBC’s Today show, Case adds a little more detail to the story:
“I asked myself: if I start losing weight today, where will I be tomorrow? This idea was so exciting and encouraging that it helped motivate me to where I am today.”
“I came up with three super simple quick breakfasts that really helped me control my hunger at lunch time, which was a big danger zone for me. A bowl of cereal with soy milk and apple; a slice of toast with almond butter and bananas; and a delicious cool green drink with spinach and almond butter. Just fix them up quick and out the door.”
What a great idea… and bonus marks to Case for the outstanding nutritional value in those quick hunger-control snack recipes.
